Doilies

I really like making them, but who uses them anymore? They are really more like works of art. This doily I made from a pattern in the book Crocheted Lace, by Pauline Turner. There are many more patterns (or Motifs) in this book I would like to make. Maybe I will make a big tablecloth.

Pam, This is gorgeous!! And we need to think modern with them. I still see doilies used in modern homes as an anachronistic touch. They are also popular additions to clothing! Think of this on a perfectly uptight pinstriped suit embellished with ribbons and beads! The shabby chic movement just looooovvvves these on pillows and tablecloths! You keep on hookin' mama!

Thanks! But I have no fashion sense WHATSOEVER. The only use I could think of them is to put them on tables underneath things (like a lamp or something). That's what my grandmother used to do.

But I love them! I was thinking of making a few more really intricate ones and then putting them in a shadow box, and hanging them on the wall. I think that would be pretty.
